We had our first check-up 12-22-11... and we got to see the baby... or the beginning stages of what will eventually be a baby! The doctor said it's starting to look more like a baby because you can see the beginning signs of arms and legs.. I'm not seeing it, but I guess she looks at these things everyday!
We got to see the heart beating, but didn't get to hear it yet. Based on the size of the baby, the doctor estimates our due date to be 7/30/12 +/- 3 days. So, we will see! We have a niece, Camden, whose birthday is 7/29.. so maybe they'll have the same birthday!?!
After our doctor appointment, we went to Dallas for Christmas. It was just as awesome as it always is.. but this year, my dad decided that he wanted us to get family pictures made. I don't think we have ever had family pictures made.. so I was very excited! We had our pictures taken at the Gaylord Texan, which is a beautiful hotel in Grapevine, TX. It was decorated for Christmas, so it made all of the shots that much better!
Paul and I thought the family pictures were such an awesome idea, that we suggested we do them for his family as well! So, the day after Christmas we went to the Gaylord again for another round of family photos! We had a lot of fun taking them with both of our families! Can't wait to see the final products!
We don't have a lot going on this week, will probably just try to get our house back in order after the floor installation. It's tough going out of town when we have so much to do at home. Hopefully only a few more weeks of the chaos and we'll be back to normal!

The Floors are in!
This renovation was supposed to only be new wood floors.. So after much hard work, and many "add-ons" (as Paul would call them), our floors are installed!
So, according to babycenter.com., I am a little over 8 weeks pregnant. And the checklist on the app on my phone told me to start taking belly pictures.. so much to my dismay I took one. This may be the only belly picture I share..
So, we go to the doctor on Thursday, December 22nd. After our appointment we plan to go to Dallas for Christmas. Will post again soon!
the beginning
this area was a huge pain because of all the door jambs
the finished living room
Bailey is ready to go to bed
"I look good on these floors!"
the hall closet (another terror for floor installation)
our bedroom
the finished living room (without our bed this time)
It started at about 10am yesterday morning, and CJ and Jenny came over to help us. I asked Paul how long he thought this would take.. he said all day.. and he was right! We worked from 10am until midnight. What a beating! But, they're in.. and we couldn't have done it without CJ and Jenny! Thank you so much for your help and expertise! So, according to babycenter.com., I am a little over 8 weeks pregnant. Renovation Revelation
We have destroyed our house, and are in the process of putting it back together. We have torn up all of the carpet downstairs, torn out our "fake" fireplace (will post pictures), and taken the baseboards off of the walls in the downstairs living areas. We have painted the walls, which was a very difficult task being that our ceilings are about 20 ft. tall! Thank goodness for extension ladders, and a very patient husband!
So before leaving for Dallas for the Thanksgiving Holiday, Paul and I worked on getting our house back to tolerable until about 2 am on November 22nd. Through our exhaustion, and attempts to get ready for our trip, I decided it was a prime time to take the pregnancy test.. and immediately it turned to a plus sign! We are pregnant! It was exciting, but we were so exhausted, we just went straight to bed.
So... the common trend is to keep your pregnancy a "secret" until your second trimester.. but I am only through my first month... This is going to be a difficult task. I am either going to have to "pretend" to drink, or not be put in social situations, which is not fun for me or Paul...
Our first test was Thanksgiving with our families. Everyone noticed I wasn't drinking and suspected that I was expecting.. I would just smile and say "We are trying"... but apparently, my HUGE grin wasn't convincing, and my sister was on to me! She just smiled back, and we were on the same page!
The second test was the day after Thanksgiving. We went to a very good friend's 30th birthday party. Now, we have been friends with these people since high school, so they all know i enjoy a good beer! These friends already knew we were "trying", and when I wasn't drinking, they were on to me... So, it appears that I am not very good at keeping this pregnancy thing a secret!
It's difficult because it is such an exciting time for us, but at the same time, there is always the possibility of complications. So, we'll just keep positive and praying that all goes well.
Until next time,
Jodi

Why the waffle?
I've read so many great blogs, that I have decided to write one myself. I have always enjoyed writing, so I have decided to join the masses, and attempt blogging.
So, you are probably wondering why this is called "The Waffle". Yes? Well, Paul and I love breakfast foods.. well, more Paul than me, but that's not the reason. The reason for the title begins with the movie Juno.. although I did not spend the day drinking Sunny D and Paul is not entirely fond of the orange Tic-Tacs, we both really like that movie, oh, and, my "eggo is preggo"!
So, this blog will be a way to keep up with our daily dealings with our new little waffle, and a way to keep everyone who is interested updated on our pregnancy (and non-pregnancy) events.
So here begins our journey through our first pregnancy...
